At Jesus’ baptism, John asks, “You come to me?” Jesus steps into the waters of sinners, taking on their name so they might take His. Baptism is not first about our response, but about God’s initiative: He comes to us. Just as Jesus was baptized into our name, we are baptized into His. It’s a sign of belonging, grace, and identity—God’s act before ours.
