Sermon Title : Hope in Temptation – Part 3
(Mark 1:12-13 (Matthew 4:8-11)
Pastor: Brian Moore
In the third temptation of Christ (Matthew 4; Mark 1), Satan unveils his boldest tactic: offering Jesus the kingdoms of the world—if He will only bow down. But beneath this grand offer lie the same lies used throughout history: distorted narratives, counterfeit shortcuts, and misplaced trust. Satan attempts to control the story, suggesting he has ultimate authority, while ignoring the truth of Christ’s eternal kingship. He tempts Jesus with glory without suffering, a crown without a cross. Yet Jesus answers each deception with Scripture, reaffirming fidelity to the Father and rejecting all falsehood. For believers, this account offers hope: God’s Word is a lamp in the fog of temptation. In Christ, we are already loved, already chosen, already secure. When the fog lifts, we see the towering presence of our Almighty Father—faithful, sovereign, and close. Nothing can separate us from Him.
