Sermon 14. December 2025

Sermon title: “We Never Saw Anything Like This
(Mark 2:1-12)
Pastor: Brian Moore

We Never Saw Anything Like This (Mark 2:1–12) challenges a false dichotomy between joy and suffering. This sermon shows that biblical joy is not denial of pain and not shallow positivity. True Christian joy exists alongside hardship because it is rooted not in circumstances, but in a real encounter with Jesus Christ.

At the center of the story is a paralytic and four determined friends who will not stop until they bring him to Jesus. Their faith reveals where joy truly begins: with Christ alone. While many come out of curiosity or judgment, this man receives far more than expected. Not only physical healing, but forgiveness of sins. Jesus makes clear that lasting joy flows from reconciliation with God, not from changed conditions.

The sermon concludes with a clear implication: joy grows through obedience. The healed man does not remain on his mat. He rises, walks, and lives differently. Christian joy is not passive. Those who trust Christ are not only justified, but called into a transformed life. A life no longer ruled by circumstances, but shaped by grace.
